Export-control charge on H20 products to China
On April 9, 2025, the U.S. government notified NVIDIA that a license would be required to export its H20 integrated circuits (and any circuits matching H20 memory/interconnect bandwidth) to China, Hong Kong, Macau and D:5 countries; on April 14, 2025 the government indicated the requirement would remain in effect indefinitely. NVIDIA said its first quarter of fiscal 2026 (ending April 27, 2025) would include up to approximately $5.5 billion of charges for H20 inventory, purchase commitments and related reserves (accession 0001045810-25-000082, filed April 15, 2025).
The charge came in at $4.5 billion when Q1 FY26 results were reported on May 28, 2025: revenue of $44.1 billion (up 69% year over year), GAAP gross margin of 60.5% (71.3% excluding the charge). NVIDIA said it was unable to ship an additional $2.5 billion of H20 revenue in the quarter (accession 0001045810-25-000115).
By the second quarter of fiscal 2026 (reported August 27, 2025), there were no H20 sales to China-based customers; NVIDIA recorded a $180 million release of previously reserved H20 inventory tied to about $650 million of unrestricted H20 sales to a customer outside China (accession 0001045810-25-000207). Subsequent quarters' guidance (Q3 and Q4 FY26, and Q1 and Q2 FY27) have each stated that no Data Center compute revenue from China was assumed in the outlook.

How this page was built
This page was built from 13 of NVIDIA Corporation's own filings with the SEC, read one at a time. Nothing on it is taken from news coverage, analyst commentary or another website. Their accession numbers are cited inline, so any statement here can be traced to the filing it came from and checked against sec.gov.
A single company files thousands of pages with the SEC in a year, and no two companies file them the same way, so the reading and the assembly here are done by AI rather than by rules that break on the differences. Every pass is then audited back against the filings it came from before the page is published, and anything the filings do not support is left out and named rather than filled in. AI can still make mistakes. That is why the accession numbers are printed: the filing is the authority, and this page is a route to it.
