Second quarter 2026 results (6-K filed 4 August 2026; accession 0001654954-26-007201)
- Profit attributable to bp shareholders was $3,911 million for the quarter (first quarter 2026: $3,842 million; second quarter 2025: $1,629 million) and $7,753 million for the half (first half 2025: $2,316 million).
- Underlying replacement cost (RC) profit was $5,732 million, against $3,198 million in the first quarter and $2,353 million a year earlier. The company attributed the quarter-on-quarter rise mainly to higher liquids and gas realizations, stronger realized refining margins and a stronger customers result, partly offset by higher exploration write-offs. Underlying RC profit is a non-IFRS measure.
- Operating cash flow was $10,858 million (second quarter 2025: $6,271 million), after a $1.0 billion adjusted working capital build. Capital expenditure was $3,086 million.
- Net debt fell to $22,251 million from $25,309 million at the end of the first quarter, after the $2.9 billion redemption of the EUR 2.5 billion perpetual hybrid bonds and $1.1 billion paid on Gulf of America settlement liabilities.
- Adjusting items in the quarter included post-tax net impairments of $0.8 billion.
- Operations: upstream production 2,201 mboe/d (first quarter 2,339); upstream plant reliability 92.4% (95.7%); refinery throughput 1,467 mb/d (1,527). Tier 1 and 2 process safety events rose to 18 from 7 in the first quarter.
- The company said Brent and Henry Hub realizations and refining margins were the main drivers, and cited seasonal Gulf of America maintenance, Middle East disruption and an April third-party event at Whiting as operational headwinds.
Management and priorities
- Meg O'Neill became chief executive officer and an executive director on 1 April 2026; Carol Howle stepped down as interim chief executive on 31 March 2026. Melody Meyer, Karen Richardson and Simon Henry stepped down as non-executive directors on 23 April 2026. How this page was built
This page was built from 11 of BP p.l.c.'s own filings with the SEC, read one at a time. Nothing on it is taken from news coverage, analyst commentary or another website. Their accession numbers are cited inline, so any statement here can be traced to the filing it came from and checked against sec.gov.
A single company files thousands of pages with the SEC in a year, and no two companies file them the same way, so the reading and the assembly here are done by AI rather than by rules that break on the differences. Every pass is then audited back against the filings it came from before the page is published, and anything the filings do not support is left out and named rather than filled in. AI can still make mistakes. That is why the accession numbers are printed: the filing is the authority, and this page is a route to it.
