Notes
- Coverage: this record holds the periods printed in the FY2025 10-K (accession 0001024478-25-000116) and the Q3 FY2026 10-Q (accession 0001024478-26-000030). Annual income statement, cash flow and segment figures cover fiscal 2023, 2024 and 2025; annual balance sheets cover September 30, 2025 and 2024 only, because the 10-K prints no September 30, 2023 balance sheet. Quarterly entries are the three months ended June 30, 2026 (Q3 FY2026) and June 30, 2025 (Q3 FY2025). Rockwell's fiscal year ends September 30.
- Template: standard industrial. Rockwell's statement of operations does not print an operating income subtotal, so none is reported here. The profit measure Rockwell's chief executive uses to run the business is segment operating earnings, which is reported under segment_results from the segment note of each filing for Intelligent Devices, Software & Control and Lifecycle Services; 'total' is the sum of the three segments as the note prints it, before amortization of acquisition-related intangibles, corporate costs, interest and the other items the note reconciles to income before income taxes.
- Sign convention: expense lines in the income statement (cost of sales, selling, general and administrative expenses, engineering and development, goodwill and intangible asset impairment, interest expense, income tax provision) are stored as positive amounts. Other income (expense) and change in fair value of investments keep their sign, with a negative figure meaning a charge. Net income attributable to noncontrolling interests is negative where those partners' share was a loss. Cash flow figures keep the filing's sign, so capital expenditures, dividends paid and share repurchases are negative.
- Presentation change: starting with the FY2025 10-K, Rockwell reports engineering and development costs as a separate line rather than inside cost of sales, and recast earlier periods to match. Every period here uses the new presentation as printed in the FY2025 10-K and the Q3 FY2026 10-Q. The change did not affect net income, earnings per share or cash flow; it lowered cost of sales (and raised gross profit) by $679 million in fiscal 2025, $658 million in fiscal 2024, $706 million in fiscal 2023, and $170 million in Q3 FY2025.
- Sales ('revenue') is total sales, the sum of products and solutions sales and services sales, both reported alongside it.
- Earnings per share: Rockwell computes EPS on net income available to common shareowners, which is net income attributable to Rockwell Automation less a small allocation to participating securities (restricted stock and director restricted stock units); both lines are reported. Diluted EPS and weighted average diluted shares are as printed on the statement of operations.
- Total debt is derived as short-term debt plus the current portion of long-term debt plus long-term debt, as printed on the balance sheet. Total liabilities is derived as total current liabilities plus long-term debt, retirement benefits, operating lease liabilities and other liabilities; Rockwell's balance sheet does not print a total liabilities line, and this sum plus total shareowners' equity equals total assets in every period. Shares outstanding is shares issued less shares held in treasury, both read from the balance sheet captions (141.4 million less 30.3 million at June 30, 2026; 141.4 million less 29.0 million at September 30, 2025; 181.4 million less 68.3 million at September 30, 2024).
- Dividends: dividends_declared_per_share comes from the footnotes to the statements of shareowners' equity ($1.38 for Q3 FY2026, $1.31 for Q3 FY2025, $4.14 and $3.93 for the nine months, and $5.24, $5.00 and $4.72 for fiscal 2025, 2024 and 2023). cash_dividends_paid is the cash outflow on the cash flow statement.
- Quarterly cash flow: the 10-Q prints cash flows for the nine months only. The three-month operating cash flow, capital expenditures and free cash flow for Q3 FY2026 and Q3 FY2025 come from the quarterly free cash flow table in the Q3 FY2026 earnings release furnished on Form 8-K (accession 0001024478-26-000028), recorded on those periods as cash_flow_source_accession. That table's quarters sum to the 10-Q's nine-month figures and to the 10-K's fiscal 2025 figures.
- Free cash flow is operating cash flow less capital expenditures, which is Rockwell's own definition of this non-GAAP measure. For annual and nine-month periods it is computed from the printed cash flow statement; for the two quarters it is the figure printed in the earnings release.
- Trailing twelve months (July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026) is derived as fiscal 2025 plus the nine months ended June 30, 2026 less the nine months ended June 30, 2025. It omits per-share figures and share counts, which do not add across periods, and omits other income (expense), because the 10-K separately presents change in fair value of investments and impairment charges that the 10-Q does not break out on its face.
- Sensia joint venture: Rockwell recorded $224 million of goodwill and intangible asset impairment charges on Sensia in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025 (in the fiscal 2025 figures). The dissolution of the joint venture was completed April 1, 2026; Rockwell recognized a $20 million pre-tax gain within other income, and noncontrolling interests on the balance sheet fell from $57 million at September 30, 2025 to $2 million at June 30, 2026. Sensia had been part of the Lifecycle Services segment.
- Segment presentation: the segment notes state that legacy asbestos and environmental charges were moved out of corporate and other in the reconciliation for all periods shown; this does not change segment sales or segment operating earnings as reported here.
- Consistency: the 10-Q's September 30, 2025 balance sheet column matches the FY2025 10-K's balance sheet line for line, and the Q3 FY2026 10-Q's figures for the year-ago periods are used as the 10-Q prints them.
Uncertainties
- The 10-Q's 'Other income' line for the quarter and nine months is not directly comparable to the 10-K's 'Other (expense) income' line: the 10-K presents change in fair value of investments and goodwill and intangible asset impairment as separate lines, while the 10-Q has no such lines on its face (its segment note shows a $7 million change in fair value of investments within the quarter's results).
- Only Q3 FY2026 and Q3 FY2025 are reported as discrete quarters, because these are the only three-month periods the 10-Q prints. Earlier quarters of fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2025 are not part of this record.

How this page was built
This page was built from three of Rockwell Automation, Inc.'s own filings with the SEC, read one at a time. Nothing on it is taken from a pre-tagged dataset, a data vendor or another website. The figures are on the company's own fiscal calendar and in actual dollars, as the filings report them. Where the filings do not support a figure, the record says so instead of reporting a zero; this period names two such gaps.
A single company files thousands of pages with the SEC in a year, and no two companies file them the same way, so the reading and the assembly here are done by AI rather than by rules that break on the differences. Every pass is then audited back against the filings it came from before the page is published, and anything the filings do not support is left out and named rather than filled in. AI can still make mistakes. That is why the accession numbers are printed: the filing is the authority, and this page is a route to it.
