Published
Nucor Corporation reported net earnings attributable to Nucor stockholders of $1.16 billion, or $5.04 per diluted share, for Q2 FY2026, the quarter ended July 4, 2026, up 91.7% from $603 million a year earlier, on net sales of $10.40 billion, up 23.0%. The steel mills segment drove the gain, with pre-tax earnings of $1.56 billion, up 84.6%, on higher selling prices, record quarterly mill shipments, wider metal margins and a refund of prior periods' raw-material procurement costs, while steel products pre-tax earnings fell to $353 million from $392 million as higher steel input costs compressed margins despite higher volumes. Reported net earnings also include a non-cash gain on Nucor's investment in Helion, a fusion energy company.

| Business type | industrial |
| Schema template | standard industrial (net sales / cost of products sold / earnings before taxes / net earnings; balance sheet; cash flow) with steel mills, steel products and raw materials segment results |
| Schema rationale | Nucor is a steel manufacturer whose statement of earnings runs from net sales through cost of products sold to earnings before income taxes and noncontrolling interests, with no operating-income subtotal. The record follows the statement's own lines and adds the three reportable segments the company manages the business by, using segment earnings before income taxes and noncontrolling interests, which is the segment profit measure Nucor reports. |

Notes
- Annual figures for 2025, 2024 and 2023 come from Nucor's Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2025 (accession 0001193125-26-071575). Its statements of earnings and cash flows present three years; its balance sheet presents only December 31, 2025 and December 31, 2024, so FY2023 carries an income statement and cash flow statement here but no balance sheet.
- Quarterly, six-month and July 4, 2026 balance sheet figures come from Nucor's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 4, 2026 (accession 0001193125-26-345891). The quarterly list holds only the two 13-week quarters that filing prints (the second quarter of 2026 and the second quarter of 2025); its 26-week columns are kept separately under year_to_date so a cumulative figure is never read as a quarter. The 10-Q's balance sheet is dated July 4, 2026, with December 31, 2025 as the comparative (identical to the FY2025 balance sheet above), so the second quarter of 2025 carries no balance sheet.
- The second-quarter 2026 earnings release furnished on July 27, 2026 (Form 8-K, accession 0001193125-26-318190, Exhibit 99.1) prints the same statement of earnings, balance sheet and six-month cash flow figures as the 10-Q.
- Net earnings (net_earnings) is net earnings attributable to Nucor stockholders, after earnings attributable to noncontrolling interests in Nucor's joint ventures. Earnings per share are as printed on the statements of earnings. Annual average share counts come from the 10-K's earnings-per-share note (Note 21), because the 10-K's statement of earnings does not print them; quarterly and six-month counts come from the face of the 10-Q's statement of earnings.
- Nucor's statement of earnings presents no gross profit or operating income subtotal. gross_profit here is derived as net sales less cost of products sold; every other income statement line is as printed.
- Sign conventions: equity_in_earnings_of_unconsolidated_affiliates is stated as a positive amount of earnings (the statement shows it as a reduction of costs); interest_expense_net is positive for net expense and negative for net interest income (2024 and 2023); losses_and_impairments_of_assets is zero where the statement prints a dash. In the cash flow block, capital expenditures, acquisitions, debt repayments, distributions to noncontrolling interests, cash dividends paid and treasury stock purchases are stated as positive amounts paid, while investing_cash_flow and financing_cash_flow keep the statement's sign (negative means cash used). Treasury stock and accumulated other comprehensive loss are negative, as printed.
- total_debt is derived as short-term debt plus the current portion of long-term debt and finance lease obligations plus long-term debt and finance lease obligations due after one year, all as printed on the balance sheet. free_cash_flow is derived as cash provided by operating activities less capital expenditures; Nucor does not present free cash flow in these statements. On that basis free cash flow was negative $188 million in 2025.
- cash_and_restricted_cash_end_of_period is the cash flow statement's closing balance. The 10-K's caption includes restricted cash and cash equivalents; at each year-end shown it equals the cash and cash equivalents on the balance sheet.
- Dividends declared per share come from the 10-K's statements of stockholders' equity ($2.21 for 2025, $2.17 for 2024, $2.07 for 2023) and from the 10-Q's stockholders' equity note ($0.56 for the second quarter of 2026, $0.55 for the second quarter of 2025, $1.12 and $1.10 for the six-month periods).
- segment_results carries Nucor's three reportable segments (steel mills, steel products and raw materials): net sales to external customers and segment earnings before income taxes and noncontrolling interests, the segment profit measure Nucor reports. Corporate/eliminations (net interest on long-term debt, intercompany profit eliminations, profit sharing and stock-based compensation, among other items) reconciles total segment earnings to consolidated earnings before income taxes and noncontrolling interests. In 2025 Nucor recast its segment tables for a reclassification within the raw materials segment; the 10-K states this did not change that segment's earnings.
- The trailing twelve months ended July 4, 2026 are derived as FY2025 plus the six months ended July 4, 2026 less the six months ended July 5, 2025. Per-share amounts and average share counts are not stated for that period because they cannot be added across periods.
- The cash flow figures for the second quarters of 2026 and 2025 are derived as the six-month figures from the 10-Q (accession 0001193125-26-345891) less the three-month figures for the first quarters of 2026 and 2025 printed in the first-quarter 2026 earnings release (Form 8-K, accession 0001193125-26-182332, Exhibit 99.1); the closing cash balance is as printed at the end of each six-month period.
- The figures above are stated in U.S. dollars as reported. Nucor has had no stock split in the periods covered and is not an ADR issuer, so no per-share adjustment was applied.
Uncertainties
- Neither the 10-Q nor the second-quarter 2026 earnings release prints three-month cash flow statements; both present cash flows for the six-month periods only. The cash flow figures for the second quarter of 2026 and the second quarter of 2025 are therefore derived by subtraction rather than printed (see each quarter's cash_flow_derivation).

When does Nucor Corporation (NUE) next file with the SEC?
Nucor Corporation (NUE) is expected to file its next Form 10-Q with the SEC on or around November 11, 2026. The most recent periodic report on file is the 10-Q for Q2 FY2026, the period ended 2026-07-04, SEC accession 0001193125-26-345891.
How this page was built
This page was built from four of Nucor Corporation's own filings with the SEC, read one at a time. Nothing on it is taken from a pre-tagged dataset, a data vendor or another website. The figures are on the company's own fiscal calendar and in actual dollars, as the filings report them. Where the filings do not support a figure, the record says so instead of reporting a zero; this period names one such gap.
A single company files thousands of pages with the SEC in a year, and no two companies file them the same way, so the reading and the assembly here are done by AI rather than by rules that break on the differences. Every pass is then audited back against the filings it came from before the page is published, and anything the filings do not support is left out and named rather than filled in. AI can still make mistakes. That is why the accession numbers are printed: the filing is the authority, and this page is a route to it.
