PeriodQ2 FY2026

Published

Home Depot reported $47.86 billion in net sales for Q2 FY2026, the quarter ended August 2, 2026, up 5.7% from a year earlier, with net earnings of $4.77 billion and diluted earnings per share of $4.79. Most of the sales growth came from acquisitions rather than from existing stores: comparable sales rose 1.7% in the quarter, and GMS, the building-products distributor folded into the SRS unit after the year-ago quarter ended, supplied most of the remainder. Operating income of $6.84 billion was up 4.3%, a slower pace than sales, and the quarter's gross margin gain leaned on refunds of tariffs invalidated by the Supreme Court, a benefit management says higher fuel, energy and product input costs and the inclusion of GMS largely offset.

Notes

  • All figures come from two filings: The Home Depot's fiscal 2025 Form 10-K (accession 0001628280-26-019436, filed March 18, 2026) and its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended August 2, 2026 (accession 0001628280-26-058715, filed August 25, 2026). Both report in U.S. dollars. Every statement in both filings is stated in millions (per-share amounts in dollars), and figures here are restated in actual dollars.
  • Home Depot's fiscal year ends on the Sunday nearest January 31. Fiscal 2025 ran February 3, 2025 to February 1, 2026 (52 weeks); fiscal 2024 ran January 29, 2024 to February 2, 2025 and contained 53 weeks; fiscal 2023 ran January 30, 2023 to January 28, 2024 (52 weeks). The extra week makes fiscal 2024 a slightly longer period than the years on either side of it, which flatters its sales and cash flow comparisons.
  • The 10-K presents statements of earnings and cash flows for fiscal 2025, 2024 and 2023, but balance sheets only as of February 1, 2026 and February 2, 2025. Fiscal 2023 therefore carries an income statement and cash flow here and no balance sheet.
  • The 10-Q presents the three months and six months ended August 2, 2026 alongside the same periods a year earlier. The two three-month columns are reported here as the quarterly periods; the six-month columns are reported separately as the year-to-date and prior-year-to-date views, so no cumulative figure is filed as a quarter.
  • Home Depot publishes a cash flow statement only on a six-month basis in this 10-Q, so no three-month cash flow, and therefore no quarterly free cash flow, is reported for either quarter.
  • The 10-Q's balance sheet columns are August 2, 2026 and February 1, 2026. The only balance-sheet figure it publishes as of August 3, 2025 is total stockholders' equity of $10.665 billion, shown in the statements of stockholders' equity; that is the single balance-sheet item carried for the year-ago quarter.
  • The trailing-twelve-month view is derived, not filed: fiscal 2025 plus the six months ended August 2, 2026 less the six months ended August 3, 2025, which spans the 52 weeks from August 4, 2025 to August 2, 2026. Its diluted share count is a 52-week weighted average built the same way from the published weighted averages, and trailing diluted earnings per share is trailing net earnings divided by that count.
  • Total debt is not a subtotal the balance sheet prints. It is stated here as short-term debt plus current installments of long-term debt plus long-term debt excluding current installments: $55.772 billion at February 1, 2026, $53.383 billion at February 2, 2025, and $52.896 billion at August 2, 2026.
  • Cash-flow items carry the sign the statement prints, so capital expenditures, payments for businesses acquired and cash dividends are shown as negative outflows. Free cash flow is operating cash flow less capital expenditures.
  • Home Depot repurchased no common stock in fiscal 2025 (the statement of cash flows shows a dash), against $649 million in fiscal 2024 and $7.951 billion in fiscal 2023, and the six-month financing activities in the 10-Q show no repurchase line in either year. Management describes this as an ongoing pause in share repurchases.
  • Segment figures are given as the company reports them: a Primary reportable segment covering retail operations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and 'Other', which holds the SRS distribution operations. Consolidated results equalled the Primary segment before the SRS acquisition in fiscal 2024, so the 10-K presents no reconciliation for fiscal 2023. 'Other' net sales rose from $3.120 billion in the year-ago quarter to $5.055 billion in the quarter ended August 2, 2026. The company attributes the consolidated net sales increase principally to GMS, the specialty building products distributor SRS acquired on September 4, 2025, which it states contributed $1.4 billion of incremental net sales in the quarter; GMS's operations sit within Other. SRS also completed the acquisition of Mingledorff's, an HVAC distributor, on May 11, 2026, within the second quarter of fiscal 2026; the 10-Q states that Mingledorff's net sales were immaterial for both the three and six months ended August 2, 2026.
  • The 10-Q states that Home Depot had received approximately $730 million of tariff refunds under the U.S. Supreme Court's IEEPA decision as of August 2, 2026, of which approximately $685 million was recognized as a reduction of cost of goods sold, nearly all in the Primary segment. That benefit sits inside the reported gross profit for the quarter and the six months ended August 2, 2026.
  • Customer transactions and average ticket, as the company footnotes them, exclude HD Supply and the SRS operations, so they describe the Primary segment rather than consolidated sales. Comparable sales percentages are the company's own, as defined in its Results of Operations discussion.
  • Shares outstanding are the counts stated in the balance-sheet common stock caption: 996 million at February 1, 2026, 994 million at February 2, 2025, and 998 million at August 2, 2026. Weighted average share counts in the income statement are separate, period-weighted figures.

Uncertainties

  • No three-month statement of cash flows is published for either quarter, so operating cash flow, capital expenditures and free cash flow for the quarters ended August 2, 2026 and August 3, 2025 cannot be determined from these filings. Those measures are reported only on a six-month and full-year basis.
  • No balance sheet as of August 3, 2025 is published in these filings beyond total stockholders' equity, so the year-ago quarter carries no assets, debt or cash figures.
  • No balance sheet as of January 28, 2024 is published in the fiscal 2025 10-K, so fiscal 2023 carries no balance sheet.
  • The trailing-twelve-month figures are derived by arithmetic from published periods rather than reported by the company, and the trailing diluted share count and per-share figure are weighted approximations. They may differ slightly from any trailing figure the company itself publishes.
  • Store counts are stated only as of February 1, 2026 (2,359 stores) and August 2, 2026 (2,364 stores) in the sections of these filings that report them; no store count is carried for fiscal 2024, fiscal 2023 or the quarter ended August 3, 2025.
  • The comparable customer transactions change for fiscal 2025, fiscal 2024 and the quarter ended August 2, 2026 is printed as (1.0)%, and is recorded here as -1.0; the trailing zero is not significant to the figure.

Are Home Depot's comparable sales growing?

Home Depot's comparable sales rose 1.7% in Q2 FY2026, the quarter ended August 2, 2026, against 1.0% a year earlier. Total net sales grew faster over the same span, up 5.7%, because the acquired distribution businesses are not in the comparable base.

How this page was built

This page was built from two of The Home Depot, Inc.'s own filings with the SEC, read one at a time. Nothing on it is taken from a pre-tagged dataset, a data vendor or another website. The figures are on the company's own fiscal calendar and in actual dollars, as the filings report them. Where the filings do not support a figure, the record says so instead of reporting a zero; this period names six such gaps.

A single company files thousands of pages with the SEC in a year, and no two companies file them the same way, so the reading and the assembly here are done by AI rather than by rules that break on the differences. Every pass is then audited back against the filings it came from before the page is published, and anything the filings do not support is left out and named rather than filled in. AI can still make mistakes. That is why the accession numbers are printed: the filing is the authority, and this page is a route to it.
