PeriodQ2 FY2027

Published

Salesforce reported $11.35 billion in revenue for Q2 FY2027, the quarter ended July 31, 2026, up 10.8% from a year earlier, with subscription and support revenue of $10.82 billion accounting for most of the total. Net income was $3.53 billion, up 86.9%, but the increase came from outside the operating business: income from operations was $2.33 billion, flat from a year earlier, while net gains on strategic investments contributed $2.61 billion against $6 million a year earlier, driven largely by an unrealized markup on Salesforce's stake in Anthropic. Diluted earnings per share of $4.29 also reflects a materially smaller share count following the accelerated share repurchase Salesforce paid for in the first quarter of the fiscal year.

Notes

  • Salesforce's fiscal year ends on January 31. FY2026 is the fiscal year ended January 31, 2026, and the current quarter reported here, Q2 FY2027, is the three months ended July 31, 2026.
  • Annual figures are taken from the FY2026 10-K (accession 0001108524-26-000060). That filing prints three fiscal years on the face of its statements of operations and cash flows (FY2026, FY2025 and FY2024) and two dates on its balance sheet (January 31, 2026 and January 31, 2025). FY2024 therefore carries an income statement and a cash flow statement here but no balance sheet, because the 10-K does not print one for that date.
  • Quarterly figures are taken from the Q2 FY2027 10-Q (accession 0001108524-26-000190). Both its statement of operations and its statement of cash flows print a discrete three-month column alongside the six-month column, so every figure in the quarterly periods here is a true three-month figure. The six-month amounts are reported separately in the year-to-date block and are never mixed into a quarter.
  • The same statements are reproduced in Salesforce's Q2 FY2027 earnings release, furnished as exhibit 99.1 to the 8-K dated August 26, 2026 (accession 0001108524-26-000187). Every line used here agrees between the two filings; the 10-Q is cited as the source.
  • The 10-Q balance sheet presents July 31, 2026 and January 31, 2026 only. The year-ago quarter (Q2 FY2026, the three months ended July 31, 2025) therefore carries an income statement and a cash flow statement but no balance sheet.
  • Amounts are stated in actual U.S. dollars. The filings print dollar amounts and share counts in millions and per-share amounts in dollars; those scales have been applied.
  • The FY2027 statements of operations present interest expense as a separate line. The FY2026 10-K's statement of operations did not: for the fiscal years, interest is reported within "Other income". Interest expense is therefore carried for the FY2027 quarters and six-month periods and for the re-presented year-ago quarter, but not for the fiscal years, where it sits inside other income. Income before income taxes and net income are unaffected by the change in presentation.
  • Expense and outflow lines are carried with the sign the filings print: the provision for income taxes, capital expenditures, share repurchases, dividends paid and business combinations are negative amounts deducted in arriving at the subtotal above them.
  • Free cash flow is not a line in the filings. It is calculated here as net cash provided by operating activities less capital expenditures.
  • Total debt is not a line in the filings. It is calculated here as current debt plus noncurrent debt, and excludes operating lease liabilities and financing obligations.
  • The trailing-twelve-month block is derived rather than printed: fiscal 2026 plus the six months ended July 31, 2026, less the six months ended July 31, 2025. It omits interest expense and other income, because interest was not separately presented in fiscal 2026 and the two presentations are not additive; income before income taxes and net income are unaffected. It also omits per-share amounts and share counts, because the share count fell sharply over the period and combining four quarters of per-share figures would not produce a meaningful result.
  • Salesforce completed its acquisition of Informatica in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026. Cash used for business combinations, net of cash acquired, was $9.27 billion in fiscal 2026 against $2.73 billion in fiscal 2025, goodwill rose from $51.28 billion at January 31, 2025 to $57.94 billion at January 31, 2026, and acquired intangible assets rose from $4.43 billion to $6.82 billion. Fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2027 results are not directly comparable with the years before the acquisition.
  • Salesforce's capital structure changed substantially in the first half of fiscal 2027. The company raised $24.84 billion of debt, net of issuance costs, and repurchased $27.33 billion of common stock over the six months. Noncurrent debt rose from $10.44 billion at January 31, 2026 to $39.29 billion at July 31, 2026, treasury stock rose from $32.23 billion to $55.02 billion, and total stockholders' equity fell from $59.14 billion to $38.38 billion. Nearly all of that activity fell in the first quarter: repurchases in the second quarter alone were $84 million, and interest expense rose to $473 million in the quarter from $67 million a year earlier.
  • Second-quarter net income of $3.53 billion includes $2.61 billion of net gains on strategic investments. The company states in its earnings release that those gains added $2.43 to diluted earnings per share for the quarter at a U.S. tax rate of 23.5 percent. Income from operations was $2.33 billion, essentially flat against $2.33 billion a year earlier.
  • Shares outstanding are as the filings state them: 929 million and 962 million common shares outstanding at January 31, 2026 and January 31, 2025 per the balance sheet, and 823 million at July 31, 2026, being 1,081 million shares issued less 258 million treasury shares per the statement of stockholders' equity.
  • Salesforce reports as a single operating segment, so no segment breakdown is presented.

Uncertainties

  • The trailing-twelve-month block is a calculation, not a column any filing prints. It is built by adding the six months ended July 31, 2026 to fiscal 2026 and subtracting the six months ended July 31, 2025.
  • No trailing-twelve-month earnings per share or share count is reported. Weighted diluted shares fell from 956 million for fiscal 2026 to 821 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, so no single share count fairly describes the twelve-month period.
  • No trailing-twelve-month interest expense or other income is reported, because the fiscal 2026 statement of operations reported interest inside other income while the fiscal 2027 statements report it separately.
  • The year-ago quarter (three months ended July 31, 2025) has no balance sheet here. The Q2 FY2027 10-Q's balance sheet presents only July 31, 2026 and January 31, 2026, and no balance sheet at July 31, 2025 appears in either filing used for this record.
  • The first quarter of fiscal 2027 is not reported as a separate period. The 10-Q's statement of stockholders' equity shows net income of $2.11 billion for the three months ended April 30, 2026 and total stockholders' equity of $34.24 billion at that date, but the filing does not print a first-quarter income statement, balance sheet or cash flow statement, so no full quarter could be assembled from it.
  • Fiscal 2024 carries no balance sheet, because the FY2026 10-K's balance sheet presents only January 31, 2026 and January 31, 2025.

Salesforce reported $11.35 billion in revenue for Q2 FY2027, the quarter ended July 31, 2026, up 10.8% from $10.24 billion in the same quarter a year earlier. Subscription and support revenue was $10.82 billion, up 11.7% year over year.

Why did Salesforce net income nearly double in Q2 FY2027?

Salesforce net income of $3.53 billion in Q2 FY2027 was up 86.9% from $1.89 billion a year earlier, but the gain was not operational: income from operations was $2.33 billion, flat from a year earlier. The difference is net gains on Salesforce's strategic investment portfolio, which contributed $2.61 billion in the quarter against $6 million a year earlier, largely an unrealized markup on its investment in Anthropic.

What was Salesforce earnings per share in Q2 FY2027?

Salesforce reported diluted earnings per share of $4.29 for Q2 FY2027, against $1.96 a year earlier. The increase reflects both the strategic investment gains recorded in the quarter and a materially lower weighted average share count after the company's accelerated share repurchase.

Is Salesforce operating income growing?

Salesforce income from operations was $2.33 billion in Q2 FY2027, flat from a year earlier, even as revenue rose to $11.35 billion, up 10.8%. Costs grew faster than revenue across the income statement: sales and marketing was the single largest expense increase of the quarter, alongside higher costs of service delivery, acquired intangible amortization, research and development and a larger restructuring charge.

How this page was built

This page was built from three of Salesforce, Inc.'s own filings with the SEC, read one at a time. Nothing on it is taken from a pre-tagged dataset, a data vendor or another website. The figures are on the company's own fiscal calendar and in actual dollars, as the filings report them. Where the filings do not support a figure, the record says so instead of reporting a zero; this period names six such gaps.

A single company files thousands of pages with the SEC in a year, and no two companies file them the same way, so the reading and the assembly here are done by AI rather than by rules that break on the differences. Every pass is then audited back against the filings it came from before the page is published, and anything the filings do not support is left out and named rather than filled in. AI can still make mistakes. That is why the accession numbers are printed: the filing is the authority, and this page is a route to it.
